West Des Moines Therapists

Our Team

  • sees clients age 18+

As a trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist, I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, and depression. EMDR therapy focuses on altering how core memories are stored in the brain and body, reducing negative symptoms associated with these memories through targeted eye movements. In addition to EMDR, I have my perinatal mental health certification, meaning I’m trained and passionate about working with those navigating postpartum mood disorders, early motherhood, infertility, and loss.

I believe that everyone—yes, you!—deserves to recognize and embrace their worth and value. In our sessions, you can expect support in exploring the origins of negative beliefs, understanding how childhood experiences impact your current life, and learning the true elements of self-compassion.

When I’m not in the therapy office, you can find me searching for a cheap flight deal, making sourdough bread, and reading fantasy novels.

Mental health matters, and not everything you are holding on to is yours to carry. Taking that first step towards bettering your health is one of the most powerful choices a person will make. I am here to support you by examining all environments and relationships that form who you are, and focus on your desired change in overall wellness and health. I believe clients can experience change and growth while processing life’s challenges, uncovering patterns, and building opportunities for connection. I use a variety of approaches and will collaborate with you to provide an individualized and unique therapeutic experience. I strive to provide an environment that is comfortable, welcoming, and free of judgement. My goal for my clients is to feel valued and understood as we collaboratively grow through their identified therapeutic goals, and life barriers.

My therapeutic approach includes a variety of different techniques which are selected based on the client’s presenting concern. I am a Registered Play Therapist where I have received specific and specialized training to use play therapy, and assist children who benefit from that modality of support. Some other therapeutic approaches I am most influenced by include Solution Focused, Narrative, ACT, Cognitive Behavioral, Adlerian, and General Systems Theory.

Thank you for considering me as your therapist at Healing Collective in West Des Moines, IA. I am committed to providing a supportive and non-judgmental environment for all my clients and their families. With a warm and compassionate approach, I typically use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), sand tray therapy, child-centered play therapy, and other play-based interventions during our sessions.

As a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) currently pursuing additional training through the Heartland Play Therapy Institute to become a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), I bring specialized expertise in working with children (ages 5+) and adolescents. My focus areas include managing big emotions, life transitions, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, challenging behaviors, anxiety, depression, and anger.

I understand that starting therapy can be intimidating and overwhelming. My goal is to provide a space where you or your child can process challenging emotions, feel safe, and be heard. I commend you for taking the step to seek support and it would be an honor to work with you!

  • Reaching out for support takes courage—and I believe therapy should meet you right where you are. My work centers on building a safe, affirming, and collaborative relationship where you feel seen and supported in your healing.

I work with individuals and couples navigating a range of experiences, including trauma, anxiety, grief, depression, life transitions, and relationship stressors. My approach is neuro-somatic (mind and body), trauma-sensitive, and client-centered. I aim to tailor therapy to each person’s unique needs, strengths, and goals.

I'm trained in EMDR, and draw from several therapeutic modalities including ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), narrative therapy, expressive therapies, and animal-assisted psychotherapy. I’m also in the process of completing certification in perinatal mental health.

Above all, I strive to create a space that’s inclusive, justice-focused, and rooted in respect for all identities and lived experiences.

Outside of work, I’m a passionate reader, a sometimes-quilter, an always-curious traveler—and I live with more animals than I probably should.

If you’re interested in working together, I’d love to connect and see if we’re a good fit.

My desire is to meet my clients where they are at. I want them to know that no matter what they’ve been through, there is healing and hope available to them. My goal is to build a strong therapeutic relationship with clients and utilize a variety of techniques in the therapy process to meet the needs of each client. I will integrate faith into the therapeutic process for clients who communicate a desire for this, but I will gladly meet with any client regardless of their background.

It is my belief that therapy is a uniquely helpful space for growth and healing. My clients can openly discuss areas of their lives where they feel stuck, and we can work together to make a plan to reach their goals and live with hope.

I believe that I am who I am today because of the grace of God and the grace of others. This experience inspires me to pass along this same gift to everyone I come into contact with.

I use a radical and compassionate approach to therapy and believe that everyone deserves a safe and affirming space to feel seen, heard, and valued for who they are.

I am a trauma-informed and affirming therapist with a psychodynamic background. I recognize that therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and I meet each person where they are at; I will modify therapeutic interventions and modalities based on the needs of each individual. We can work together to set goals and promote growth in whatever way feels best for you. I recognize we exist in systems and structures that are not in our control that can impact our mental well-being and am open to these conversations and helping you find your purpose, meaning, and community.

My expertise involves working with adolescents and young adults in group or individual therapy on issues including suicidality, self-harm, life transitions, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, communication, and gender & sexuality exploration.

Thank you for considering me as your therapist! I understand that starting therapy can feel uncomfortable, and I deeply admire the courage it takes to take this first step. My goal is to build a positive, trusting relationship where we can work together toward a better life for you or your loved one. I believe therapy begins with unconditional acceptance and a genuine curiosity about each person who walks through my door. In a world where many of our struggles go unheard and unseen, I strive to create a space where you feel valued, and your experiences truly matter.

My approach is grounded in person-centered therapy, which means I focus on understanding, accepting, and connecting with you as the foundation for meaningful, effective therapy. Depending on your specific needs, I integrate a variety of interventions to support your healing and growth. Techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) are often used to assist in self-exploration and addressing current challenges. I believe that each client is unique and deserves an individualized approach.

When working with children, I incorporate play therapy techniques. Play is a powerful tool for self-expression, especially for younger clients who may have difficulty verbalizing their thoughts and emotions. Play therapy offers a safe and engaging way to process feelings, build skills, and explore new coping strategies.

I am passionate about working with children and teens who are navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem issues, ODD, ADHD, and other challenges. I look forward to supporting you or your loved one on this journey.

My approach is gentle and very much focused on building a safe, confidential, and mutually respectful relationship. I believe in the power of mind body connection, and how mental health issues may manifest physically within the body as unexplained illnesses or pain. I use a variety of mental health modalities with the intention of tailoring each treatment to the individual needs of the client.

I have experience working with veterans, homelessness, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, bi-polar disorder, family issues, life transitions, and divorce. I see client’s above the age of 13, couples, and family counseling.

Therapy can be scary and intimidating. When resistance to therapy occurs that means it's working! Know I will always validate and empathize with those fears as they are very real to you. Together we will help you build the mental capacity to navigate life challenges.
